2012 SPECIAL GUEST
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH

We are proud to announce that President George W. Bush will be the speaker at our closing night dinner.

George W. Bush was the 43rd President of the United States, sworn into office on January 20, 2001, re-elected on November 2, 2004, and sworn in for a second term on January 20, 2005. Prior to his Presidency, President Bush served for 6 years as the 46th Governor of the State of Texas, where he earned a reputation for bipartisanship and as a compassionate conservative who shaped public policy based on the principles of limited government, personal responsibility, strong families, and local control. After his Presidency, in 2010 he released his memoir, Decision Points, and travels the globe as a speaker. He now lives in Dallas with his wife, Laura.

Healthcare 2020: The Transformative Trends That Will REALLY Define Our Future

By 2020, we will have successfully transitioned the system from one which “fixes people after they’re sick” to one of preventative, diagnostic genomic-based medicine that treats patients for the conditions we know they are likely to develop. In this seminar, Jim Carroll puts into perspective why innovation is no longer just a fashionable phrase —with the coming changes, innovation is the critical new leadership focus for executives in the health care sector.

The Effect of Exercise on Health Care

How does exercise affect the entire healthcare system? Ignoring the value of small, individual actions like exercise, diet, and stress control can have drastic consequences on society. This seminar explores how civilization has changed over the past century, emphasizing the role activity plays in quality of life as well as what it will take for formative change. Dr. Tedd Mitchell shares time-honored and research-backed solutions for not only extending longevity, but for avoiding the “geriatric curve” of declining function with age.

Your Health Depends on Where You Live: Examining the Geo-Demographic Indicators Related to Chronic Disease

The whole concept of place – where you work, play or live – is critical to health. This seminar introduces us to geomedicine, an emerging concept in health care that links geography and the vast amount of public health knowledge to personal health. Bill Davenhall sheds light on diseases like breast cancer, prostate cancer, and Parkinson’s and their relation to a higher incidence in certain parts of the United States. Attendees will begin to see patterns that reflect geographic variability in both the incidence and prevalence of these kinds of diseases and the need for high concern to the public.
